About the Researcher

Jaylexia Clark is a 4th year PhD student and Deans' Fellowship recipient in the Department of Sociology. She received her Bachelor’s of Science in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University (2019). Prior to coming to Notre Dame, she worked with a variety of organizations such as the New York City based Worker Institute and the Tompkins Country Workers Center to advocate for better legal protections and a living wage for all workers.

Her primary research examines how platform technology exacerbates or disrupts structural racism. Currently, she is focusing on gig work and the impact pre-existing systems of inequality have on the work conditions and growth of the gig economy.
